OMNES Share: Enriched Interoperability
OMNES Share is an integrated software platform for viewing, comparing and manipulating digital images. It enables interoperability between digital objects, providing deep zoom and annotation capabilities related to iconographic and textual components within the OMNES Suite.
It is compatible with IIIF (International Image Interoperability Framework) open standards, which is used worldwide for sharing digital objects. It supports access control and can leverage existing SSO systems, using the IIIF Authentication API.
With OMNES Share you can manage unlimited layers of annotations, image manipulation, colours and edits, on the original file. Users have their own virtual desk, where each user can perform their own work on the same file, but the original is untouched. Users can compare multiple views of resources from different sources, all on the same desk, from many separate IIIF sources.
Although OMNES Share is a separate platform from IIIF, it integrates with IIIF, and adds a significant amount of functionality, which includes:
- Tailored views of the customised metadata, in the search function
- Multiple levels of visibility so you can have hidden visibility across users and organisations
- Approval workflow for annotations
IIIF (International Image Interoperability Framework) is an open standard for the viewing, analysis, and manipulation of digital images. The main purpose of IIIF is to enable the sharing and interoperability of digital images across different platforms and applications, regardless of the original image formator the system used to store it.
